In the spirit of Festool’s announcement that their complete CT line has been independently tested and certified to be “full unit hepa” dust extractors, we took our CT26 to the next level in functionality with some styling. Changed the whole attitude of it, without losing the workhorse essence.
There are many intuitive possibilities to customize CT extractors to the way you work. I recommend exploring it, but I scrupulously avoid the temptation of rewiring the machine to accomodate a microwave oven or anything. Silly modifications do nothing but void the highly desirable Festool warranty.
Here she is, taking a turn. Btw, no caster mods needed. My CT handles great, even with a higher profile cargo:

Its a great setup, ideal for shop! Lets hope they dont bother! You will love that sander, I believe. Great to hear from you, Bill.
Scott,
I just got the CT-26 with Rotex 150. Spent a little time with the sander the other day, very nice. I’m hoping the shipping co. doesn’t bother picking up the first CT that came in slightly damaged. If they don’t, I may have to look into setting one up like you did for my shop.
Look forward to seeing how you implement the systainers and accessories in your systems, I can see a lot of potential uses! I entered their contest, maybe I’ll win one! http://www.festoolsweepstakes.com/
I didnt know about the contest, thanks for sharing. I will be publishing lots of updates on the sys system in coming weeks.
I take it that is the model that will stay in the shop. I could do that to my 33 model, since it may not meet RRP regs given the announcement for the current models.
Dean,
Nope. That is actually getting equipped for a winter onsite as a dedicated extractor for trim prep an finish sanding. We are experimenting with a series of hose mods, splits and extensions to get one extractor serving two sanding operations from a central location. Hence, all the accessories. Everything we are doing with add ons is straight out of the product and accessory line. All the parts and pieces are there to do exactly what we have always wanted. And, the whole thing is modular, breaks down with an Allen tool that stays onboard at all times. Very easy to strip for transport.
Looks like a hospital crash cart!
Rob, that will be one highly visible extractor. And not just because there’s a Syslite onboard!
I want to see that in action!
